Bristol City Council - Community Asset Maps

Maps

Bristol City Council commissioned two community asset maps of two of the areas that the Community Development Team are working in: Redcliffe and Hartcliffe & Withywood.

I co-facilitated mapping workshops with the Community Development lead in each area, and talked to residents about which community assets - the people, places, environment, wildlife, resources and more - should be highlighted on a community map of each area.

10 assets were selected by the residents to be illustrated, and local names were nominated to become the border of each map as a thank you to residents who have worked hard to make these places special.

The final maps were shared with residents for feedback, and after final changes sent to print on large scale vinyl banners to be displayed in local community hubs and used as an ongoing resource for the community. Stickers were also created for residents to add more assets to the map, and a calling card for the Community Development Team and local people was added to keep the conversation going.
